Pintxos: The Art of Small Bites
A pincho or pintxo is a small snack, typically eaten in northern Spanish bars. These small bites have transcended across the globe to Al-Seif Strip where Pintxos, under the talented Head Chef Abdulrahman AlKhashan, is serving up delicious Spanish inspired cuisine. We recently visited and sat under a tentacle-lit ceiling that, mixed with RnB, club and house music, discovered a unique lounge-like atmosphere making it our new chill out destination.
With a bite size tasting menu prepared by the chef himself, we tucked into mouth watering contemporary cuisine. Classic, high quality ingredients were balanced with touches of innovative flavors to create a well thought out menu. Our evening commenced with a Patatas Bravas inspired dish accompanied by a mustard, honey, and garlic sauce, mixed with a dab of sour cream to balance out the sweetness. This was followed by Sushi with a Mediterranean twist; light and full of flavor creating a bite size salad result.
Spanish style sliced tomatoes came next, seasoned and sprinkled with herbs and pepper. Then came a Kuwaiti favorite; Dynamite Fries. AlKhashan added his own touch by switching the carb to sweet potatoe with a nice spicy hint to it. Another popular dish the Chef made his own was the Barrata plate; with a drizzle of balsamic glaze and shavings of dark chocolate. One dish that stood out was the Falafel-style Guacamole Bites; fried with an oozing, molten avocado center. An instant favorite!
The menu at Pintxos has been designed for sharing and the intimate atmosphere feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Kuwait. AlKhashan showcases his ability to take a classical cuisine and inject it with contemporary flare. A gift the Chef consistently exposes as being central to putting his name on the culinary map.
