French couture label Stephane Rolland recently opened its first boutique ever in the luxurious Avenue at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The designer, famed for his stunning haute couture creations, is debuting his first pret-a-porter collection at the store. Throughout the year, the boutique will feature 10 non-seasonal capsule pret-a-porter collections that includes shoes, bags, and limited edition jewelry and accessories.
Designed by French architect Thierry Lemaire, the luxurious minimalist store embodies a 1970s apartment, with steel, precious wood and marble accents. Lemaire was chosen by Rolland to design the store because the two share a very similar and specific design styles. “I was very particular about how I wanted the boutique to look. It had to be modern, clean and minimalist – which is the core of my aesthetic – but also cosy and feminine,” said Rolland.
It’s only natural that the first Stephane Rolland boutique opens in a Gulf country seeing as a large part of his clientele are women from the GCC area. They flock to his haute couture shows yearly to nab the latest and greatest of his glamorous and ultra feminine gowns. Rolland was a hit in the Middle East a long time before Hollywood set eyes on the talented designer.
Abu Dhabi is only the first capital for Stephane Rolland stand-alone boutiques, with upcoming locations set for Paris, London, New York, Hong Kong and Dubai.
